Pioneering film actress Mary Pickford (1892-1979), born Gladys Louise Smith, she went on to become on of the pioneers of early film production becoming both a film producer, founding member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and co founder, along with D.W. Griffith, Charlie Chaplin, and Douglas Fairbanks of United Artists.
